Pigments are widely used in colour cosmetics and have particle size greater than 0.2 micron. This pigments when use directly in formulation will tend to form aggregates. This aggregates will affect the properties of finish formulation such as colour strength, opacity and gloss. Isononyl isononanoate is an emollient ester with a rich and creamy but nongreasy feel. It softens the skin.
It is derived from the esters of nonanoic acid, a 9-carbon fatty acid which occurs naturally in cocoa oil and lavender oil. This pigments are dispersed in isononyl isononaote to form uniform dispersion. This dispersions offer full colour development, better stability, improved gloss and ease of use.
ININ Dispersions are recommended for use in decorative cosmetics like anhydrous formulations (e.g. lipstick, blush and other stick forms) and may also be used in emulsions (e.g. liquid and cream foundation, cream-to-powder make-ups, lipsticks and blush).
